Overview
Large indigenous trees and beautiful tropical gardens make Sefapane Lodge & Safaris a green oasis amidst the typical bushveld of the Limpopo Province. Birding is excellent throughout the lodge and specifically at our rustic dam.
All rondavels are privately situated with its own ‘stoep’ to sit and relax and enjoy the gardens.
The large swimming pool with charming sunken bar is a unique feature of the lodge. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dinning with many terraces to choose from. At night everything changes into a magical African wonderland with lanterns and torches that light the path to your table, set up under the African moonlit sky.
Accommodation
Our accommodation consists of 30 African-style thatched rondavels, quietly situated under shady trees and equipped with air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom. The rustic African décor will immediately make you feel at home. You can choose between a standard and deluxe rondavel. The deluxe rondavels are considerably larger and offer more comfort.

Our Indaba lounge offers you time and space to relax with a book, watch wildlife videos or sit by the fire with a glass of wine.
The lounge can also host small functions, conferences and private dinner parties.
Restaurant
Our stylish a la carte restaurant and African style boma offer excellent cuisine which is a fusion of African and Western dishes.
Lunch can be enjoyed at the pool and for dinner there are many mesmerising places to choose from.
The boma boasts a walk in wine cellar, with exquisite wines to complement your meal or enjoy on its own.

Amarula Lapa
In February and March each year the indigenous marula trees bear the delicious fruit from which its’ vitamin rich juice is collected for processing. From this juice the famous cream liqueur, Amarula Cream, is made. During harvesting season, the Amarula Lapa, situated just 10km outside Phalaborwa, is open for factory tours and tasting. The rest of the year we can organize a tasting tour.
Open Mine Pit
Being next to the Kruger Park is not the only unique feature of Phalaborwa. The town has a vast mining industry, supplying vital minerals as well as the full South African quota of copper. Go visit the look-out point and view the world’s deepest open cast mine, with a diameter of just less then 2 km. Public tours of the mine are possible, but bookings are essential.
Horse riding and Quad Biking
In the Phuza Moya Game Reserve, only 45 minutes from Sefapane, you can explore the wildlife on horse-back.
Suitable for novice and experienced riders. Another adventurous way to explore the Reserve is on a quad-bike.
What better way to unwind and soak up the fresh air and enjoy an unforgettable experience!
Hot Air Balloon Safaris
They can organize full day and half day excursions. Experience the magic of lighter-than-air flight over the Lowveld game areas adjoining the Kruger National Park. Book this really unique morning balloon flight and witness the sunrise, try to spot the game below and enjoy drifting gently over the landscape. After the flight you are invited to a lovely breakfast on the Blyde River.
Hoedspruit research and Breeding Center
This is a unique project which conducts research on endangered species and provides an opportunity to view animals which
have found a home here. Every hour guided tours take place, starting with a video presentation and a guided tour through the centre. You can visit the centre as a self drive option or book a transfer with us.
Moholoholo Animal Center
The Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre at Moholoholo contributes positively to the conservation of endangered species and the rehabilitation of injured and poisoned wildlife. A visit to the centre will stimulate your awareness and understanding of the plight which our wildlife faces today. On request we can organize morning or afternoon excursions to Moholoholo.
Cultural and Villiage Tour
Experience the cultural side of Africa. This three hour tour takes you to the villages in the Greater Phalaborwa area, where various aspects of authentic and modern day Africa will be highlighted. A very educational and interesting tour which gives you an insight in the African way of life.
Panorama Route
Spend a full day discovering some of South Africa's most spectacular scenery!
Your tour will take you to the breathtaking Blyde River Canyon to view stunning rock formations and gorgeous lookouts.
You will visit spectacular sites such as God's Window, Three Rondavels and Bourke's Luck Potholes. The lovely towns of Graskop and Pilgrim's Rest are on the itinerary as well.
Tzaneen and Magoebas Kloof
Nestled between rolling, citrus-covered hills, this lovely, sub-tropical town has a lot to offer. We visit the Tzaneen museum, a crocodile farm and the Sapekoe Tea Estate where the tea making process will be explained to you. And of course we visit the Modjadji reserve, which was declared a national monument in 1936, in honour of the Rain Queen Modjadji, the hereditary queen of the Lobedu.
